How to install ClockX on Windows 10 / 11

Installing ClockX takes under a minute. Download the official installer, run it, and the clock appears on your desktop automatically. No configuration required to get started.

Step-by-step installation guide

ClockX is developed by Bohdan Rylko and has been available at clocx.net since 2007. The installer contains no adware, spyware or toolbars.
1

Download the installer

Go to the Download page and click the download button. You will get a file called ClocX160_x64.exe — this is the official 64-bit installer for Windows 10 and 11. The file is approximately 21 MB.

If you are on a 32-bit Windows system, download ClocX160.exe from clocx.net/download.php instead.

2

Run the installer file

Double-click ClocX160_x64.exe in your Downloads folder. Windows SmartScreen may show a warning because ClockX is from an independent developer without a paid code-signing certificate.

If SmartScreen blocks the file: click More infoRun anyway. This warning appears for any independent software publisher. You can also scan the file with VirusTotal first.
3

Follow the setup wizard

The installer opens a standard setup wizard. Click Next through each screen. You can choose the installation folder (default is C:\Program Files\ClocX) and whether to install for all users or just the current user.

On the components screen, you can choose between Standard (smaller) and Full (400+ skins) installation. The full install includes all skin packs and is recommended.

4

ClockX appears on your desktop

After installation completes, ClockX starts automatically and places a floating clock on your desktop. You will see an analog clock face in the default skin.

If the clock doesn't appear immediately, check the system tray (bottom-right of taskbar) — ClockX may be minimized there on first launch.
5

Customize your clock

Right-click the clock to open the context menu. From here you can:

— Choose a different skin from Style
— Adjust size and transparency in Options
— Set the clock to always-on-top or click-through
— Add alarms via the Alarm menu item

See the skins guide and alarms guide for more detail.

6

Optional: set ClockX to start with Windows

Right-click the clock → OptionsGeneral → enable Auto-load with Windows. Choose per-user or all-users startup. From now on, ClockX will appear automatically every time Windows boots. Full instructions in the startup guide.

Common installation issues

Most issues during installation are caused by Windows security features and are easy to resolve.

Installer blocked by Windows SmartScreen
SmartScreen warns about installers from publishers without expensive code-signing certificates. ClockX is safe — it has been distributed since 2007 without issues. To proceed: click More info in the SmartScreen dialog, then click Run anyway. Alternatively, right-click the .exe → Properties → check Unblock at the bottom.
Need administrator privileges to install
If you see a UAC (User Account Control) prompt asking for admin permission — click Yes. ClockX installs to Program Files and requires admin rights for the initial install. If you don't have admin access on the machine, ask your IT administrator to install it, or use the per-user installation option which installs to AppData.
Clock doesn't appear after installation
Check the system tray first — ClockX might be running but its window is off-screen or behind other windows. Right-click the tray icon and choose Show. If no tray icon: open Task Manager and check if ClocX.exe is running. If not, launch it from the Start menu. On Windows 11, the clock may appear behind the desktop — right-click the clock and uncheck Pin to desktop.
Antivirus quarantined the installer
Some aggressive antivirus products flag any unsigned executable. You can verify the file yourself by uploading ClocX160_x64.exe to VirusTotal. The file comes directly from clocx.net and has been clean since its release. If your AV quarantined it, restore it from quarantine and add an exception for the ClockX folder.
How to uninstall ClockX
Go to Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps, search for ClockX and click Uninstall. Alternatively: Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program. ClockX removes cleanly with no leftover files. See the full uninstall guide.
