ClockX skins — 400+ clock faces for your Windows desktop

ClockX ships with over 400 analog and digital clock skins. Change the look of your desktop clock in two clicks — right-click and choose a style. Advanced users can edit or create their own skins with any image editor.

Switching the clock face

Two clicks from the right-click menu is all it takes.

What skin options are included

Analog clock faces

Classic faces with hour and minute hands. Dozens of styles: wooden, metallic, minimalist, ornate, retro, cartoon. Round and non-round shapes available.

Digital clock faces

LED-style, segmented display, text-based and matrix digital faces. Show hours, minutes and optionally seconds. Some include a date display.

Standard install (31 skins)

Standard installer includes 24 PNG and 7 BMP skins — a curated selection of analog and digital styles. Good starting point.

Full install (400+ skins)

Full installer adds 98 more PNG and 69 more BMP skins — 400+ total. Wide variety of themes. Recommended for desktop customization.

PNG skins (alpha blending)

PNG skins use per-pixel alpha blending — smooth, shadow-like edges that look sharp on any wallpaper. More polished than BMP skins.

BMP skins

Simpler bitmap skins use a color mask for transparency. Lower memory usage, slightly faster to render — good for older hardware.

Creating your own ClockX skin

PNG skin format

Create a PNG with a transparent background. ClockX overlays the clock hands on your face image. Place the file in C:\Program Files\ClocX\Skins\ following the naming convention of existing skins. ClockX loads all skins from this folder on startup.

Edit existing skins

Open any skin PNG or BMP in GIMP, Photoshop or Paint.net. Modify colors, add artwork, redesign the face. Save under a new name in the Skins folder. Restart ClockX and the new skin appears in the Style menu.

Extra skin packs are available free at clocx.net — download, extract to the Skins folder, and they appear instantly.

Skin questions

How do I get more skins?
Download skin packs from clocx.net → Skins section. Extract the files into C:\Program Files\ClocX\Skins\ and restart ClockX. New skins appear automatically in the Style menu.
Why does my skin look pixelated?
Enable anti-aliasing: Options → Anti-aliasing → Method 1 or Method 2. Also try resizing the clock to be closer to the skin's native resolution for the sharpest result.
Can I use different skins on different monitors?
Yes — each ClockX instance has its own skin. Run separate instances on each monitor and assign each a different skin, size and timezone independently.
Does changing skins affect performance?
Minimally. PNG skins with anti-aliasing require slightly more rendering than BMP skins. If CPU usage increases with a specific skin, try disabling anti-aliasing or switching to a BMP skin.
