ClockX (also written ClocX) is a free desktop clock application for Windows developed by Bohdan Rylko. It places a fully customizable floating clock on your Windows desktop with alarms, countdown timers, world clock and 400+ analog and digital skins. It has been available since 2007 at clocx.net.
Is ClockX free?
Yes, completely free. No trial period, no Pro version, no subscription. The developer asks only that you consider disabling your ad blocker on the official clocx.net website, as ads are the only source of income for the project.
Which Windows versions does ClockX support?
ClockX 1.6.0 (64-bit) supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. The 32-bit build (ClocX160.exe) runs on Windows XP SP2, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 as well. See the Windows 11 guide.
Is ClockX still being maintained?
ClockX 1.6.0 is the current stable release and works correctly on Windows 10 and 11. It has been stable for several years. The developer has not announced end-of-life. For the latest news, check clocx.net/whatsnew.php.
What language is ClockX written in?
ClockX is written in C++, which is why it is extremely lightweight — small binary size, fast startup, minimal RAM usage. This is a deliberate design choice by the developer to keep the app efficient on all hardware.
Download & install
Download & installation
Is ClockX safe to download?
Yes. ClockX is developed by Bohdan Rylko and distributed at clocx.net since 2007. The installer contains no adware, spyware or toolbars. This site links to the official installer or a partner download gateway that redirects to the official source. You can verify the file at VirusTotal if you want extra assurance.
Why does Windows SmartScreen warn me about the installer?
SmartScreen warns about programs from publishers without a paid code-signing certificate. ClockX is a legitimate application from an independent developer — the warning does not indicate malware. Click More info → Run anyway to proceed. See the install guide.
32-bit or 64-bit — which should I download?
If you are on Windows 10 or 11 on a modern PC, download the 64-bit version (ClocX160_x64.exe). To check: Settings → System → About → look for "64-bit operating system". Almost all PCs sold since 2010 are 64-bit.
Standard vs Full installation — what is the difference?
Standard install (~4 MB): 24 PNG + 7 BMP clock skins. Full install (~21 MB): adds 98 more PNG and 69 more BMP skins, 400+ total. Recommended: Full install for the complete skin selection. You can also download additional skin packs later from clocx.net.
How long does installation take?
Under one minute. Download the installer, double-click it, click through the setup wizard (3–4 steps), and ClockX appears on your desktop automatically. See the full install guide.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
The clock disappeared from my desktop
Check the system tray (bottom-right) → right-click the ClockX icon → Show. If no tray icon, open Task Manager and check if ClocX.exe is running. If it is running but invisible, the window may be off-screen — right-click the tray icon → Reset position. More help at the Help center.
My alarm didn't fire
ClockX must be running for alarms to fire. Enable auto-start with Windows. Also check Windows volume is not muted and the alarm has a sound file assigned. See the alarms guide troubleshooting section.
How do I uninstall ClockX?
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → find ClocX → Uninstall. Full step-by-step guide at Uninstall guide.
How do I update ClockX?
ClockX has no auto-updater. Download the latest installer from the Download page and run it over the existing installation. Settings and alarms are preserved. Full guide at Update guide.
