Update guide

How to update ClockX to the latest version

ClockX does not have an automatic updater. To update, download the latest installer and run it over your existing installation. Your settings, alarms and skin choices are preserved.

Updating ClockX step by step

The process takes about a minute and preserves all your settings.

You do not need to uninstall the previous version first. The installer replaces program files directly while keeping user settings. If you want a completely clean install, uninstall first then reinstall.

Update questions

Will updating ClockX delete my alarms?
No. Alarms and all other settings are stored in the Windows registry at HKCU\Software\ClocX. The installer only updates program files — it does not touch your settings. Your alarms, skin choice, position and transparency settings will all be exactly as before after the update.
Does ClockX notify me when an update is available?
No. ClockX has no auto-updater or update notification system. To check for a new version, compare your current version (right-click → About) with the latest on clocx.net/whatsnew.php. Version 1.6.0 has been stable for several years.
What if something breaks after the update?
Run the installer again from the Download page to repair the installation. If the issue persists, uninstall completely (including the registry key), then do a fresh install. Your alarm settings will be lost in a full clean reinstall, so note them down first.
